4 Aug 2007 - Mess Dinner
What a resounding success for our first ever Mess Dinner. It was so well received and enjoyed, it will now be an annual event for our squadron.
It was the dining in for our new Officer Commanding Flying Officer Mike Turner. Fifty two guests joined Flying Officer Turner including 12 of our cadets. Guest of Honour was Wing Commander Cox who was joined by Senior Wing Staff Officer Squadron Leader Maurice Thompson. The grace was given by the most senior cadet present, Flight Sergeant Alex Hope and our newest NCO, Corporal Ryan Blake played the part of Mr Vice for the Loyal Toast.
The main course was piped in by two pipers from The Tartan and Green Pipes and Drums which was absolutely fantastic. The caterers from Classic Catering gave a very professional service, excellent food and their guidance on the night was very much appreciated. Many thanks go to Mrs Merrifield for the lovely handcrafted name cards.
The brand new award for the Orienteering Challenge was presented to the winning team, Corporal Pile A, Cadet Pile B and Cadet Woolley S by Wing Commander Cox.
We wish C.I. Dan Wilson all the best, good luck for the future and every success in his new squadron as he leaves us to continue his course at university.
